I need to find a good DeEsser. Over the years this has been a reoccurring problem when I’m trying to mix vocals.
Desibilator is good, but not real-time, & can be slow depending on settings used … https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/updated-de-clicker-and-new-de-esser-for-speech/34283/199
ToneBoosters v3 has 2 free real-time DeEssers … https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/free-v3-toneboosters-plugins/64538/1
Do you know why you have Essing? I have one Pro microphone that I stopped using because it was much too bright and prone to turning SS sounds into crashing Essing.
Audacity noise reduction can create Essing out of perfectly normal voice performances. This can happen when you’re trying to “fix up” a bad, noisy performance with high values of reduction. You may be better off with less or more targeted reduction rather than trying to patch up the crisp, annoying damage later.
