I’m using Audacity 2.3.3 on Windows 10 x64 1909
I use Cakewalk by Bandlab with VST soft-synths and then use Audacity to record the mix using the Windows Stereo Mix as the source, and using Windows DirectSound.
What started occasionally, but is now becoming the norm, is that while recording the mix on Audacity, it will suddenly pause recording. It could do this 1 sec into the recording. It could be 4-5 sec, it could be 30 sec. It is more likely to be very early in the recording.
To clarify, Audacity is dropping back into Pause Recording. It isn’t hanging. On the status bar I see it display the change of state, and I can even hit the pause button again to make it continue recording.
I am now able to repro this without Bandlab running so what I thought may be a memory/CPU pressure related issue goes out the window. Fresh reboot, run Audacity, hit Record and same behaviour as described above.
I’ll give 2.4.0 RC a run to see if the behaviour is consistent, but if anyone has any ideas on how to troubleshoot/resolve this I’d really appreciate them!
