transposing (changing) tone of 500+ MP3 files - batch mode

Hi all!

Can I use Audacity 2.1.2 to convert a batch file of 500 MP3 files (tracks)?

I have approx 500 MP3 files and I want to modify each MP3 track (file) by 2 to 3 semitones.
Changing or transposing 500 MP3 tracks, individually, one by one, is simply not acceptable.

If a batch mode exists, please refer or direct me to the location within the documentation
because I cannot find any references to batch mode in this regard. For example, searching
the Wiki for “batch” without quotes results in “Batch debug mode” without quotes.

Please advise.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Audacity has a feature that may be used for batch processing called “Chains”: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/chains_for_batch_processing_and_effects_automation.html

Tip: The front page of the manual is loaded with key words and links, so that’s a good page to search for things: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.html
(Also, the picture of Audacity has “hover” tips and is clickable if you need help with any of the interface elements).

(Side note: I’ve added a “stub” page to the wiki that links to “Chains” in the manual, which will hopefully help others that are looking for batch processing in Audacity. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Batch_Processing)

And I just added a link to that stub page on the front page of the Wiki.

Thank you for your SUPER FAST reply and support, Steve.

Shortly after creating this post, I discovered the Wiki, and posted . . . how to maintain bitrate of 320 kbps - using Edit Chains

Thanks again!!
