Strange visual tabs bug that makes it difficult to use Audacity

Just for starters, I’ve recently updated Audacity to 3.4.2 from 3.0.2 (although it still displays 3.0.2) on my Windows 10 Home laptop.

The bug just recently appeared when I accidentally clicked on the .exe twice because I’m a bit silly so it installed twice.

A picture of the bug is attached. Let me know if there are any fixes!

Possibly “reset toolbars” may fix it.

Looks to me like you are still running 3.0.2 there.

In 3.2.4 there is no longer a Time-shift tool in the tools toolbar.

the bug you are seeing is when you run a version of Audacity with the six-tool Tools toolbar after you have run a later version with the reduced 4-tool Tools toolbar.

As Trebor says a View> Toolbars > Reset Toolbars will fix that when you run 3.0.2 - but I assume from your post that you really want to be running 3.2.4 which you appear not to be doing.

Note that when you start any version of Audacity that it first checks to see if any other version is already running. If so, it re-activates that other version and exits.

It is possible to start up 3.2.4 and have 3.0.2 pop up. To be sure which version is running is to do Help > About Audacity.
