Splitting the sides of a stereo track

Hi.

I exported a mono track but inadvertently had it panned 70% to the left. Then I closed the program and didn’t save the original file.

When I opened the new track it had been made into a stereo track with the audio on the top identical to, but quieter, than the audio on the bottom. Is there a way to get it back to just a mono track at the original volume? Or is there a way to “split” the left and right of the stereo track so I can just delete the side that is quieter?

Thanks. Hope this makes sense.

70% left should give you the left (top) channel at the original volume and the right (lower) channel at lower volume.

So use the Track Drop-Down Menu to Split Stereo Track, then use the [X] top left of the quieter track to close it.

Not seeing ‘Split Stereo Track’ in any of the drop down menus.

I am using version 2.0.3

Is it hidden somewhere I can’t find?

Thanks.

Its in the Track Control Panel dropdown menu - see: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/audio_tracks.html#panel
