Songs with more than one tempo

Any tips for working with songs that have more than one tempo?

When changing the tempo with this widget

the entire song changes.

Perhaps there is a way to make it so changing this widget only changes the measures/beats, but not the actual recordings?

Audacity does not support multiple, or non-constant tempos. In such cases the best thing is to either:

  1. Split the project into sections where each section has one constant tempo.
  2. Disable the Time Signature toolbar and set the timeline to minutes and seconds (avoid the time signature features).
  3. Use a DAW that supports tempo changes rather than Audacity.

I will post a request for a change / improvement to the time signature feature. It has problems for all songs, even those with a consistent tempo.

Absolutely agreed that we need this! It’s unfortunately not quite something we can add right now. Maybe we will add it in some 4.x version.
