Simplest way to trim audio

Let’s say I want to trim everything but a few seconds in the middle of a song. I’ve watched a few YouTube videos and I’ve never been able to duplicate the results. I haven’t found anything in the manuals either. I feel like such an idiot. It’s always easier to use other programs such as Cubase or QuickTime - for whatever reason those programs are intuitive. But, at the same time I’ve been wanting to use Audacity more - but, maybe I’m just dumb or something. Any help would be, well, helpful!

Cheers!

Assuming that you are using Audacity 2.3.0:

  1. Click and drag on the blue wiggly waveform to select the bit that you want to keep.
  2. “Edit Menu > Remove Special > Trim Audio”.

Select the audio you want to keep - click and drag in the waveform.

Then click on the Trim button in the Edit Toolbar.
