Show file extensions in window title bar

Hi Audacity Team,

I am wondering how to show the file extension on the window title, because I am trying to compare multiple files with the same name but different extension (wav and mp3), but I can’t distingish between them. Please check the screenshot:

I searched in preferences for an option to enable showing the extension but I could not find it.

Thank you very much in advance. Any help is very apreciated.

You might want to try setting the Tracks preference to make track names show on the Tracks - set Show audio track name as overlay to be on.

See: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tracks_preferences.html

It won’t show the file extension - but you can always include the file type as part of you filename as well as having it an an extension.

This way you could import all the tracks for comparison into a single project and use the Mute button (in the Track Control panel) to control which plays at any particular time.
