I have used Audacity for several years now on an older Win 10 laptop for recording guitar through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2nd gen. I recently upgraded my laptop. It is a Win11 device, all updated.
Reloaded Audacity 3.4.2 and the Scarlett drivers to 4.119.13.33.
I cannot get Audacity to connect to the 2i2. I get -9999 or -9996 errors.
I can get the 2i2 to record and play back through a different DAW which uses ASIO but that interface does not offer the user preferences and ease of use in Audacity.
Clearly my computer can see the 2i2 as it shows up as an option in my sound controls and shows input/output signal when tested.
I have tried all the various host set ups, different input USB port, start/restart ad nauseum, waded through Focusrite help, windows help and all of the Scarlett 2i2 threads here all to no avail. This seems like it is a setting somewhere that I cannot identify. Any help would be appreciated.
Go figure…Reach out for help and the answer is right in front of you…It was just a setting. I disabled audio enhancements in Windows and everything is now working correctly (near as I can tell).
Shout out to DVdoug at this thread. Thanks for the help.
