Help! After ending a recording,I did not save the project before closing Audacity. Is there any way I can recover this file?

A trick I use is to save the empty project before beginning the recording. It helps me get my mind in gear. 
And a trick I use with important unrepeatable recordings is to export a WAV file copy of the recording immediately after the recording has finished as a safety backup.
