I have to have my computer reinstalled with Windows 8,1. This was done by Microsoft technicians. I have had to re-load all icons on my desktop. I have found when i tried to load Audacity 2.3.0 I came up with a system error of api-ms-win-crt-runtime-11-1-0.dll I have uninstalled and reinstalled it on numerous occasions with no success. (It ran properly on the computer before i had this problem) I have been onto Microsoft and they were unable to repair it and suggested I contact ‘the maker of the program’ which I am trying to do. Can anyone please help. I do see in the Forum there are a few suggestions to install some of the superseded programs. Is that a good idea and if so, can anyone please suggest which program. Thanks to anyone who can assist
This is a known bug, which so far we have been unable to fix:

There is a workaround in the big thread - see Comment #2

It is arguably “not Audacity’s bug”, but rather the failure by Microsoft to push their “Visual C++” updates to Windows prior to Windows 10.
Fortunately they do make the updates available, but they have to be installed manually, unless some other application has already installed them (the updates are often included in commercial software that is installed from disk).
The easiest solution is to download the "Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 " from Microsoft, and install it. This is the required updates in one “redistributable” package: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ie/download/details.aspx?id=48145
Check that your computer meets the minimum System Requirements (as shown on the download page) before downloading.
