I often use the recording level meter undocked and in a vertical format. However, as I drag the meter into this shape, the decibel markings disappear. This happens a soon as the meter is taller than it is wide, i.e. when the scale flips from the horizontal to the vertical.
I am using the latest version of Audacity on Windows 10.

**Describe the bug**
If you resize your meters to vertical (with click&drag) mo… st of the numbering of the reticules is lost.
Returning the meter to horizontal orientation also results in a partial loss of numbering.
This does **_not_** appear to be a recent regression. it is this way in 3.1.3 and 2.4.2, so not a result of the recent work on merged toolbars.
But it is a regression on 2.3.3 introduced in 2.4.0
**To Reproduce**
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
1. Float one of the meter toolbars
2. Click and drag left on the resizer triangle to make the meter minimum horizontall size
3. Click and drag down on the resizer triangle to turn the meter into vertical orientation
4. Observe: much of the numbering is missing - see Image 1
5. Now click and drag on the resizer triangle to return the meter to horizontal location
6. Observe: some of the numbering is missing - see image 2
**Actual behavior**
Missing numbering in meters
**Expected behavior**
Full and proper numbering in meters
**Screenshots**
### 1) Vertical meter enlarged vertically

### 2) After returning meter to horizontal oriemtation

**Additional information (please complete the following information):**
- OS: Windows 10 - but assume all OS
- Version 3.2.0 and earlier
**Additional context**
Workaround: **Tools > Reset Configuration**
If you read that bug thread you will see that Muse do not intend to address this bug for version 3 Audacity - but it may bet fixed for V4 (or vertical meters may disappear altogether in V4).
Note that there is another bug logged for vertical meters:

**STR:**
1. right-click the metering toolbar, select Options
2. set 'Orienta… tion' to 'Vertical', submit
3. check how slider moves
**Actual result:**
The slider moves horizontally
**Expected result:**
The slider moves vertically

### Compare with DarkAudacity
Note that @JamesCrook 's DarkAudacity also had a horizontal slider in vertical meter even in vertical meter mode, but the slider was clearer being at the bottom and with **+**/**-** annotations
