Thanks Bill. The USB Audio converter doesn’t look too steep so maybe that’s a good solution. So if I hadn’t stupidly ditched my old tape deck I could have used that, it seems, and used the RCA cables that used to connect it to the receiver to connect it to the converter? I m slowly catching on.
From what I’ve read the Wikoo driver-software is old: it works with old versions of Windows, but not the latest version.
In Windows the workaround is to run the old driver software via “Compatibility Wizard”, (a/k/a legacy-mode), on the new Windows.
I don’t speak Mac, so I don’t know if there is a Mac legacy-mode.
Yes, with a standard (old-style) cassette deck, the RCA cables you used to connect it to your stereo could be used to connect it to the USB-Audio converter.

I’d like to know if you ever found a solution to this. I’m having similar issues on a Mac Book Air with the Wikoo device.
I get: “Error while opening sounds device. Please check the recording device settings and the project sample rate.” My input device is correct, and I e into midi settings and did my best to match all the bits and soforth, but no luck.
Maybe related - the USB device blinks in and out of existence in that Midi menu.
I’ve been at it a couple hours. No luck yet. Re-loaded Audacity. Are there drivers needed? No mention of such in the manual.
If it doesn’t work for you, then you must have a different problem, in which case you should start a new topic. (so as to allow people that have the “same” problem to find the solution.)
