Lame for Windows 10?

Hello

I use Windows 10 and Audacity 2.2.2.
I want to cut a big MP3-file into 5 songs … each a MP3-file.

Audacity needs a lame_enc.dll (see picture) … and I download Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe.

As I try to install lame in my Windows-10 … I get a error-message … telling me that Windows-10 declines to install it.

What must/can I do? Thank you.
Cutting a big MP3 to 5 songs MP3 needs lame-enc-dll.jpg

There are better tools for achieving this task - see: https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/MP3_Editing_Tools

Audcaity will take in your MP3 file and covert it to Audacity project format. Agter you split it up and then export to MP3s you will compound the data loss caused by conversion to MP3.

Some of the tools on that page I linked to will cut the MP3 directly - with no additional compression damage.

I download Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe.

Did you double-click the exe file to install LAME? Are you an administrator on your computer?

…I’ve got Audacity with LAME installed on four Win10 64-bit computers. (Or, one of them may be 32-bits.)

@waxcylinder
Thank you … I will read and try it …

@DVDdoug
Yes … I double click to activate the Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe.
I use my computer as an administrator.

How have you installed LAME without error-message?
Thank you.

@waxcylinder

I use mp3splt-gtk with Audacity Label Track.txt successfully.
A little bit complicated … but with success!
Thank you again.

If you still want to use Audacity and LAME for other things…

Maybe I didn’t give you complete instructions - Don’t double-click on the Internet link. First click and download Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe. Then once it’s on your computer, run it.

Hopefully, LAME will be built-into the next Audacity release! I know the developers are working on that now that the patents have expired.

@DVDdoug
Now the installation of Lame is successful.
And cutting a big MP3 to several MP3 files (with Audacity) is also successful.

I used the browser Firefox with Aria2-download-manager. A bug is in it.
I use Google Chrome instead.

Thank you for your patient.
