Label Copy and Paste shortcut keys don't work

I am not sure if this is a bug or not, but the standard (and very well known) Windows shortcut keys for text ‘Copy’ (CTRL+C) and ‘Paste’ (CTRL+V) do not seem to work when trying to copy or paste Label text from/to a label in a Label Track.
You have to always use the dropdown context menu and select ‘Copy’ or ‘Paste’.

Is this by design? It is very frustrating not to be able to use CTRL+C and CTRL+V.
CTRL+B works to create a new label. Why not also implement CTRL+C and CTRL+V for Copy/Paste?

I know that you can use CTRL+C and CTRL+V for copying and pasting audio wave data and you would have to ensure CTRL+C and CTRL+V only work in the context of having only selected Label Text, but provided only Label Text has been selected, why not have this function? It would be very useful.

Thanks for your consideration, and thanks for Audacity - it is a really great tool and I am grateful to be able to use it.

…I don’t mean to remove the CTRL+C/V function from copying/pasting wave data…I just mean ALSO making it possible to use CTRL+C/V on Label Text if and when ONLY label text has been selected and the cursor is in Label Edit mode.

This is indeed a known and already logged, and remains as yet unfixed bug:

Peter.

I just now worked out what the issue is.

You can’t Copy/Cut/Paste text from/to a Label when PLAYING tracks. Once you stop or even just pause the track, Cut/Copy/Paste Label Text does work.

This was not really quite the same issue as the one you mentioned, though they are related.

I am satisfied the issue I opened is resolved. You just have to know that you have to Pause or Stop playing to do it.
