Installation issue

Hi, Downloaded Audacity twice (separately) from the audacity website, and twice got an error upon launching it about “c\programfiles\audacity\firstTime.ini.” and it would not proceed.
Then went to the MS store to ‘get’ this…and it errored.

Happy to provide background, and eager for some progress towards resolving this.

thanks all.

I haven’t seen that reported before…

What version of Windows are you running?

If you’re running 32-bit Windows, make sure to download the 32-bit version of Audacity.

Did you download from the official audacityteam.org? (If you choose “Download without Muse Hub” that will avoid any extras you may not want.)

It might be a good idea to delete that whole Audacity folder before attempting to re-install.

I don’t actually see firsttime.ini on my computer, but it MIGHT be a temporary file that gets deleted during installation, or after the 1st run or something. That may be a clue or not…

I never tried the MS store, but it’s a different file. My install file is:
audacity-win-3.7.0-64bit.exe

Hi DVDDoug,

Thanks for the response..

Running win 10 64bit,

I have tried (and got the same result) from installing ‘without the muse hub’.

I removed Audacity with Revo and no folder continue to exist.

I will now try again.

regards

Hi again…downloaded (sans muse hub, again), installed and as soon as launched…same message

Well… If nobody comes-up with a solution, a couple of alternatives are ocenaudio (FREE) or GoldWave ($60 USD for lifetime license after free trial).

You are not the only one to report this problem. The others either never posted about what they did to fix it, or just gave up trying to install Audacity.

Thanks WrecksO,

I recon your second option would have most there.

You are in all likely hood correct, shame it tarnishes Audacity’s rep…if they care.

I will give Ocenaudio a go…ciao
