After updating from Audacity 3.7.4 to 3.7.5 on windows 11, my Flac-files that I imported into a new project sound weird, like they are being played slower or distorted. The playback speed is set to 1, fiddling with the speed just makes the files sound weird differently, so I guess it’s not the playback speed. I haven’t got a clue what else it could be. The files are played correctly in the MS Media Player.
I tried the following fixes:
Reset configuration
Uninstalled 3.7.5 completely, restarted the PC, deleted the audacity folder in program files and reinstalled 3.7.5
without any success.
So I went back to 3.7.4, which plays the files without any problem.
(I did download 3.7.4 from sourceforge, the page Old Audacity versions download linked in the troubleshooting section only has up to version 3.7.2)
@aloyse6 testing on W10 with 3.7.5 I cannot reproduce this.
I exported a know track from 2.4.2 as a FLAC and then imported it into 3.7.5 - and it played absolutely fine in 3.7.5 - exactly the same as it sounded when played in 2.4.2
Thanks for testing, Peter. Since you’ve tested on W10, I suppose that this is a W11 problem. Is there anything else that I could have done to try to fix this on my side?
My files are aircheck files from my monthly community radio show, I use Audacity to join those half hour files for a podcasts file and remove silences. The first step is always to import the files and listen to the first one to find the start of the show and cat the rest of the previous one. I did test with several different flac files from this year, none of them were played correctly in 3.7.5, they did work in the previous versions, which I knew, since I did make the podcast files every month.
Hi Aloyse6 i have the same exact problem as you but it only happen here on audio flac that are 16 bits! all my 24-32 bits work perfectly so i dunno what they change in 3.7.5 but that what cause the problem (like they don’t take 16 bit flac into consideration anymore) try it and let me know if you have the same result.
Audacity 3.7.4 says after importing that the format is 32-bit float point, I have no software that shows me this information for the saved file, what can I use to see this?
