I was charged for Audacity, but I did NOT ask to buy it!!

Audacity is free to download and use - always has been and the current owners, Muse, have committed that it will always be so.

What Muse do charge for is the use of their online storage should you choose to request usage of it (and clicking the big yellow/gold button will lead you down that path). Audacity will work quite happily on the disk on your own computer provided you have enough free space.

To avoid any chance of being charged use the following link on Muse’s download page “Download without Muse Hub”:

Sadly the “Download without Muse Hub” on the download page does not really look like a download link (the green border is one I applied to this image to draw your attention to it).

Complain with the company (AUDIO.COM) or via your credit card issuer.

This here is a user-to-user forum where users of Audacity (try to) help other users.

You have been charged for audio.com NOT for Audacity.

Audio.com is a Muse product that enables you to srore vand share audacity projects using Muse’s cloud.

If it were me I would be ringing my credit card company and cancelling the current and any future such payments.

I would not give my CC info anywhere if I do not want to buy something.

I have NO IDEA how they got my credit card info, as I have zero interest in what they are offering!!

And I don’t use my computer if I have been drinking!!

You do not make many friends by being rude in the forum. Also not by using multiple exclamation marks. If you imply that Muse has stolen your CC information, you need to file a complaint - not here, but with the police and with your credit card issuer.
