Exporting to MP3

I’m trying to export to MP3. I click through the options to do this and get the message "Audacity needs the file libmp3lame.dylib to create MP3s.

If I click on the option to download Lame I get taken to a page where it says Lame is now built-in with Audacity for Mac. So why isn’t it working?

I’ve also tried downloading Lame - i’ve done the install process but no idea where it is on my computer and do a search in finder and no joy finding libmp3lame.dylib.

I’m going round in circles and going a bit mad. Can anyone help please. I’m on OSX El Capitan 10.11.6. Thanks

Don’t go mad.

Audacity 2.3.2 has export to MP3 built-in.

This isn’t just a fluffy recommendation. Some early versions of Audacity had serious export problems.

Either export your work as WAV (Microsoft (16-bit) or Save an Audacity Project (or both). Then upgrade.

Thank you Koz. No idea how I managed to download an old version - only downloaded it today, had no idea it wasn’t the latest version. Hopefully that’ll overcome the issue! I’ll try not to go mad!

Probably by downloading from a site that is not ours - use the link that Koz posted for the Audacity website.
