Exporting Multiple Files

So sorry, I am merely a beginner. I have read and studied and no matter how hard I try, whenever I try to export multiple files - it doesn’t work.
Can someone please tell me how I can record an album and list the tracks. No matter what I try, I only get the whole album with no individual tracks or way to find out how to do this.

If there is any help (I cannot find it in the manual) the please help - I’ll figure out the rest.

After you record the album you have to label the tracks … http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/label_tracks.html
Then “export multiple” will automatically save each labelled section as an individual audio-file … http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/export_multiple.html

Howdy out there. I am a 62 year old Audacity beginner & I am having a problem with recorded songs:
I was able to successfully add music recordings, HOWEVER (& THIS REMAINS UNANSWERED BY PREVIOUS THREADS) I (only Mac) am not able to import/Export MULTIpLE TRACKS. I hope my age & imbecility is not too apparent.

  1. When I record from an album, the option to "Import multiple tracks os not bold but shaded & I cannot use this option. I have read & re-read the forum discussions & manual repeatedly, received answers that say, “Choose multiple tracks” however this does not seem possible on my Mac.I am using OS X El Capitan 10.11.5.
  2. I tried doing it track by track, but on my desktop I get both the song and the dada (with an sup. suffix). I believe this is a WAV file (?) but am not user. I cannot ADD the song to my playlist as I have other, ENTIRE albums bit in this case it isn’t working and I simply cannot find a way to convert to Mp3 (?) & any attempt to edit the playlist by adding data or simply the song (as was successful in previous cases) it will NOT remain in the playlist but bounces back to my desktop. Is there some converter I need to access? Am I importing (this worked before) incorrectly?
I am SO frustrated as some of these albums I bout at Tower records in the 70’s and are often RPO - I used to spend hours perusing music that were RPO & found some really GREAT music that never “made it” in air play.

I am sorry if I am being so obviously ignorant, but without access to Audacity contact for a simple answer, I find myself going over the manual over and over - yet it does NOT answer my specific question/problem.

Would someone PLEASE be so kind auto help an old man - it would be so greatly appreciated.
Thanks for any help at all. Why does the “multiple track” option remain shaded and inoperative?

Hey - this is a great program. I spent a lot of time traveling the country adding to my collection (especially California fro Carmel,Monterey & San Francisco & this is just so frustrating. You guys know so much more & I have no one I can call for help.
All - live & be well.

OK, I’ve merged your post with the previous thread.

How far did you get? Did you manage to add labels to your project?

You would probably benefit from a good read of this set of tutorials from the Audacity Manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tutorial_copying_tapes_lps_or_minidiscs_to_cd.html

This suggested workflow may help too: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/sample_workflow_for_lp_digitization.html

WC

Press the yellow Stop button. You cannot import or export while recording. File > Export Multiple… is what you are looking for.
