Hi. I’m new here and somewhat digitally inept, and this is probably an old question but I don’t seem to be able to find any reference. Is it possible to use the Audacity equalization effect while a track is running? I’m trying to clean up a Blind Lemon Jefferson track(from cd) which is full of noise due to lousy 1920s Paramout audio. I am running Audacity 1.3.12, on Mac OS 10.5.8. Thanks

No sorry. Audacity doesn’t do real-time effects (it is a very commonly requested feature request).

So you will need to apply the effect and audition what you have just done. Note that if you are unhappy with the result you can just use Audacity’s Undo function to reverse the previous processing. Retry with different settings until happy.

You don’t have to apply the equalization to the whole track, just preview a bit of it to audition the settings …

the duration of the preview is adjustable in Audacity’s preferences, (“Ctrl” + “p”) …

Great, thanks. I thought it was me.
