Envelope Tool randomly creating envelopes throughout audio

Hi Jademan,

New Update: Envelope tool now appears to be not working at all :neutral_face:

I just want to check I am following your instructions correctly…
This is what I have done when the envelope tool starts going haywire:

  1. I did a mix and render on each separate track
  2. I saved the project
  3. I then did a “save as…” and renamed the project so that it is also saved under a new name
  4. Reopened the re-named project

Result: I am still unable to use the envelope tool - it will not place any points on track 2 (the one which I am working on) whatsoever

Hi Jademan,

That’s so weird, it’s working now. I promise I tried multiple times last week before I got too frustrated to try again.

The only thing that has happened since I last tried is that I have had the laptop shut down for about a week.

Do you know how long it could take for the developers to resolve the enveloping issue? Did it take a while to get resolved last time it happened?

I just saw Audacity have launched a new version “3.2.3”
I don’t see e=the envelope tool issue listed as being ‘fixed’ on the list…
Would it still be worth me downloading the new version do you think?

Also - do you know how long it could take before the issue is resolved (judging by the last time this happened, I mean)?

Well, we’ve done our jobs - we’ve reported the problem. There’s not much else we can do other than find out how to easily replicate the issue in a new Audacity project.

The next Audacity release will likely be 3.3.0 and is hoped for in March. The developers will be working on hundreds of issues including new features in the meantime.
