Hello!
I didn’t notice this at first when I was working with the new version of Audacity 3.2.1. The edit bar no longer has Copy, Cut, and Paste icons. I have looked around in the preferences and the view options on the menu bar and can’t find a way turn them back on. Not a game changer but in my work flow I do use the mouse to activate these options.
Using keyboard shortcuts is fine but I thought I would check to see if I missed something.
Thank you,
Ron
MacOs = 12.5.1 (Mac Mini M1 -2020)
Muse removed these for 3.2.1 (and onwards) as part of tidying up the GUI.
You have a few options:
-
Right-click in the waveform to get a context menu
-
use the Edit Menu: Edit>Cut etc.
-
use the shortcuts
Cmd+C => Copy
Cmd+K => Delete
Cmd+V => Paste
Cmd+X => Cut (actually cut and copy)
You are not the first person to complain about these missing buttons and I suspect that you will not be the last - but Muse are fairly adamant about not bringing them back, sorry.
Peter.
Not really a complaint. Like I said it is a work flow thing. However, today I have been working all day on a podcast and have yet to really miss it. After I have been using those same keyboard short cuts in writing for decades.
Ron
Good news …
you may see these buttons coming back in a brand new toolbar which will be hidden by default but easily made visible through the View>Toolbars menu.
I manged to persuade Martin Keary (aka Tantacrul) from Muse that this was an important requirement for some folk - so he reopened the Enhancement Request for this that I posted
Restore the Cut, Copy and Paste buttons as a new (hidden by default) toolbar #3693
https://github.com/audacity/audacity/issues/3693
This is unlikely to be in any of the upcoming 3.2.x maintenance releases, but could well be on the cards for 3.3
