Latency is a problem with my 11th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i7 ,with internal mic or external USB audio box, much much more than it was in 1997 ,with a Pentium 1 PC with few MB of RAM ,latency was apparently zero;
I still can’t say if it is a matter of driver or what…Anyway …i think that drawing the waveform is a task that could add latency time and i want try to disable it,at least while recording and i think to music,I can take a look at it later once recorded.
No way to disable it?If I remember correctly that was possible in the early version of Audacity.
Thanks
Audacity3 is much more CPU intensive than Audacity 1&2, because it has non-destructive editing, and Audcaity3, like Audacity 1&2, is only using 1 core
Click the gear in the top left (underneath the Pause button usually) and then disable “scroll view to playhead”. That way the waveform is allowed to walk outside the visible area and require fewer redraws. Alternatively, making the window narrower tends to help too.
