I have used Audacity for about 15 years. When I downloaded the upgrade to 3.6.2 (I think) the cursor seemed to be broken such that one could not get or grab a specific part of the timeline, but only submit to a very clumsy choice by the software. I downloaded the next version which came out quickly but it was still broken in this manner. So, I went back to 3.4.2, thinking surely I would be okay while the kinks were being sorted out in the new versions. And I was able to edit a few more episodes, until today when I am having the same trouble even in 3.4.2 which I have certainly used with no problems before. I would like to include screen shots. Unfortunately, during the screen shot, the pointy finger disappears. What you would see in the screen shot is a portion of track that I want eliminated. First attempt at grabbing specific portion is off one way. Second attempt is off another way. There seems to be no way at this time to get an accurate grab. Since this is a basic function that I have done with no problem for 15 years, it appears to me that the software is degrading in a manner that makes it unusable. I can not imagine how degradation can jump back in software like an infection. Can any one address this? Is there a way to manage? Or fix?
