Hi there! How’s it going? I just registered because I wanted to ask this question. (I’m also not 100% sure where exactly to post this question)
I’m 99.9% sure the answer to this question is yes, but I still want to ask.
So I can see in the license section that it says that Audacity can be used for Commercial purposes, which is def great to know. ^^
Though my question is just a bit specific… and maybe not a required question, but I’m going to ask it anyway.
Does the ability to be able to use it for commercial purposes apply to every version of Audacity that’s ever been released?
I’m not able to check the very ancient versions, though I believe that Audacity has always been released under a “GNU General Public License” (GPL).
I’ve checked in Audacity 1.2.5 (released October 2006) and that is GPL.
Gotchya! So I guess the “using it commercial purposes” aspect applies all the way back to that?
(I assume that’s what’s meant by “GNU General Public License”, amongst other things… haven’t studied that term much…)
