Can't Overwrite an Existing Project on Mac

Audacity won’t let me overwrite an existing .aup3 file. It starts out ok

but then I get this

. I saw this on the Windows forum dating back to 2014. Is there a fix for Mac?
Audacity version 3.0.5 (got the same results on 3.0.2 as well).
Mac OS 11.6

Works for me on macOS 11.6 with Audacity 3.0.5 and the latest 3.1.0 alpha test build.

Perhaps you need to check your access/permissions settings for where you are saving the file - I tested using my mac’s desktop

Ensure that you use “File menu > Save Project > Save Project”
and not “File menu > Save Project > Save Project As”
