Best way to position the track at the right time

Hi, I’m new to audio editing and just installed Audacity.

When I try to move a track horizontally to play the sound at the right moment (similar to adjusting video in After Effects), I notice the waveform changes. I suspect it might be because I’m using the Envelope tool. I read that using the ‘Multi-Tool’ would let me grab both the envelope points and the audio itself, so I tried that. However, the waveform still changes as I move the track.

Can someone help me figure out how to position the audio at the exact time I want? Thanks!

But the problem is still happening.

I can’t sort what we’re looking at. Is this a magnified portion of the timeline and we’re scrolling back and forth in the magnified window?

Why are there no waveforms on the timeline in the background?

@stickytape

This is a known and logged bug that is aleady fixed for the upcoming 3.6.2 release.
