Audacity Projects Locking up Halfway Through the Project

My CPU and RAM spike a bit when the project locks up but doesn’t come close to 100%.

Because currently Audacity only uses 1 core, no matter how many you have.

Alright… so I created an issue on the Audacity Github page explaining how Audacity would screw the hell out of just one core on my laptop, basically running the first core on my i9 at 100C or 212F temperature wise, which if you know anything about CPU temps, that’s basically the max temp, and it keeps it like that for as long as Audacity is recording, even if it’s offscreen. CPU temps such as this stress systems and can quickly kill a system much quicker than not, way more or less depending on …

Just cutting a second of audio, or adding a second of empty audio for project can have a second or two delay when I start to see it go bad.

Because of non-destructive editing (introduced in Audacity 3.1) your one second “smart clip” contains a copy of the entire track it was copied from.
