Hello,
I have been editing in Audacity for about 5 years now. I got a new laptop within the last year. Started to edit on this new laptop which is WAY better than my previous laptop.
I have been running into issues when working in projects. The projects are about 30 minutes long with about 6 Audio Tracks in the project.
Every other project I am working on has started to delay, lock up, and even seemingly get corrupted about halfway through working on the project.
I have loads of storage. My AppData location has hundreds of free GB in space. I just updated to the latest Audacity tonight, still having the issue. It is so weird. My CPU and RAM spike a bit when the project locks up but doesn’t come close to 100%.
Any ideas? It is a bummer. Just cutting a second of audio, or adding a second of empty audio for project can have a second or two delay when I start to see it go bad.
I have also updated my laptop’s firmware, drivers, BIOS. Increased my virtual memory on my Laptop. I also tried uninstalling and re-installing Audacity. I have also updated Audacity to the latest version.
It is such a bummer. I edit all the time and right now it is becoming a clunky slow monster.
Unfortunately that does not switch off non-destructive editing, it just excludes the smart clip data from any audio pasted from another Audacity project window,
Adding CPU intensive features (like non-destructive editing) without multi-core support that’s inevitable.
I’m using 2.3.2.
NB: Audacity projects are not backwards compatible, v2 cannot open v3 projects, but v3 can open v2.
