Audacity playback volume significantly lower than Media Player

When I playback a file (.WAV) in Audacity is it significantly lower volume than when I play the same file in Media Player. I can barely hear audio when playing Audacity that I can hear just fine in Media Player.

Windows 10 64 bit, up to date
Audacity 3.7.1
FFmpeg 5.0.0
Playback level set to 100

Interesting to note that I saved my old Audacity ver. 2.3.3 in another folder and with the playback volume set to 100 I can hear the audio at a similar level to Media Player.

Does this help?

Unfortunately it did not help. I believe I found the volume slider “Playback Level” in the upper right of the window, and I set it to 100%

I’m not using a USB Mic, I’m downloading audio from a DJI Mic 2 and a Sony Digital recorder. Files from both are playing back in Audacity very very quietly.

The Volume Mixer can have different levels for each of your programs.

I have ensured that Audacity App volume is set to 100 in the App volume mixer (the same as Windows Media Player) but Audacity is still playing audio significantly quieter than WMP.

You don’t mention which media player you are using. Some (like VLC) will allow you to play the audio volume over 100% of the source. My VLC is usually starts at 150%.

I’m using Windows Media Player. Volume set to 100%, the same as Audacity.

What is the volume setting within Audacity?

It is set where you show it with the red arrow.
