Audacity failed to read from a file in D:

Hi! I’m have the exact same problem the same
“Audacity failed to read from a file in D:.” Error
shows up whenever I try exporting my file as an mp3.
How do you go about fixing it?

See here: Corrupt or Otherwise Broken Audacity Project Recovery

This is a new tool that allows users to repair their own files.

I am having same problem cant figure it out can you help me? it just shut down mid use, idk how to fix it and I tried downloading the tool but it didnt do anything

Please be more specific.

Please be more specific.

Is there any way I could send you the zipper file later today and you see what you could do with it? I was just working on something then out of no where it shuts off and shows the error when I open a game on my computer.

 I am not familiar with this symptom and with all respect - I wouldn’t know what to look for. Perhaps you want to send a screenshot or a video?

Perhaps you are simply losing your connection to your drive - maybe a bad cable or something. Is this project on a network or cloud drive ?

I explained it poorly, its the same error as this thread its just the data was lost or stopped working when I opened a game, I cant figure out how to use the tool you linked.

I’ll try to take a look at this over the weekend. In the meantime if you want to bother with following the clear instructions that are already posted, you can address this yourself. Or possibly someone else wants to do this for you?

sounds like your a bit annoyed, so sorry. I tried following those directions but when I download the tool theres never any EXE files in there

Your file was easier to “repair” than I anticipated. I am sending you a link to the recovered file.

Please don’t misunderstand me. I have no special powers in this regard. Anyone, including you - is able to repair this file by simply following the directions in this post: Corrupt or Otherwise Broken Audacity Project Recovery

Rather than repair your file, actually what I would prefer to do is to find out why you are having these problems and how the instructions can be improved to help others in the future. But for some reason you seem to be reluctant to help in this regard.

I’ll try not to take it personally. :frowning:

just saw what you sent, thank you so much )

Hello. I am having the same issue. I did not update Audacity though should I do that first?

It shouldn’t make any difference - but it never hurts to make an extra backup copy of your project. :grinning:

I have a few backups, the problem is that I had done a good 8 or so hours of work on this project since the last version that was saved.

And now there is only one person holding you back…

:upside_down_face: Okay, I’ll rework my method of saving and just make it a regular.

I’m terribly sorry that you’ve been treated so rudely by others. Hope all is well.
