I finished my podcast yesterday, saved it, and today when I opened it, it gave me an error saying “Audacity failed to read a file from a file in…” and I clicked on "Problem details " and it gave me this:

Please help!! I’m quite desperate! :frowning:

Hi,
I sent you a private message with an offer of help.

Mark B

Soooo nice! I’ve sent you the file

I downloaded only the aup3 file. The other two files are only temporary files that are used when Audacity has a project open - more info’ here: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/wondering-what-aup3-shm-aup3-wal-files-are-for-do-i-need-them/96278. Normally, when you close or save a project they disappear. This suggests to me that your computer thinks the file is still open. I was able to open the project file on my machine without doing anything. There are several tracks but only the first one has speech and the second has soft music. Is that right?
Mark B

Yes, theorically it s the background sound of the speech track. DO you know why you can open it and I can’t?

Maybe it’s because those 2 files are still there. Anyway, I am sending a renamed version back to you via SwissTransfer and you should have it in 5-10 minutes - you will get an email telling you. If it works OK, please let me know and post on the forum that the problem is solved.
Mark B

Thank you so much for your time and your help, you saved me!!!
