Audacity crashed during delete undo history and now I can't open the project file

Audacity crashed during delete undo history and now I can’t open the project file, which has now the size of almost 7 GB, with another file .wal of another 4.7 GB.
The programs halts and starts not responding.

I lost hours and hours of work.

How can I recover my project?

So if you want to zip up your .aup3 file and upload it to a public file sharing service, then post (or PM me) a link, I’ll take a look at it.

Of course, I would try downloading the new Audacity 3.1.3 first, and see if that fixes the problem.

Thank you. The thing is that after upgrading to 3.1.3 Audacity started to be not responding and several times.
It also converted a 2 GB project to a 20 Gb project size after saving it as aup3. Huge size.
Now I can’t even open the project anymore, it freezes after opening.
It also took 20 minutes to close the project, I believe it’s this new “undo” cache thing.
Apart from that, playback fails every 3 or 5 seconds. I never had similar issues with my previous 2.x versions.
I did a whole mixing on my project, and I lost 100% of the work since now I can’t open it anymore and I’ll probably have to downgrade the version again.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks!

So, 3.1.3 is quite new. It is possible your project doesn’t agree with it. I am sure we’ll know more in a few days…

As before, if you have an .aup3 project file 3.1.3 (or prior) I can look at it if you care to send it along. Otherwise, perhaps someone else has some insight.

You must be using an old version of Audacity - the Undo History option was removed from the View History dialog several versions ago.
