"Audacity cannot be opened because of a problem."

Hello.

I went to work on an old project, but when I tried to open the file, I was hit with the error message: “Audacity cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Audacity works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.”

I deleted the application and redownloaded the newest version. I am using El Capitan 10.11.3. Even though I deleted all previous files, I still get this error message no matter how many times I try to redownload or what version I download. It’s nothing to do with my security.

PS: I’m not too tech-savvy!

You can check the version number in “Audacity menu > About Audacity”.
The current version is 2.3.2. If you don’t have this version, you can get it via the Audacity website: Audacity ® | Download for Mac OS

Yes, that is the version I keep downloading.
