Audacity 3.4 is out now!

I find this feature super annoying. Had to assign a shortcut as Ctrl + J to join those clips

Note that 3.4.1 was previously released:

Yeah I know, I binded it before the hotfix was released .
Any way is there a way to disable the copy-clip and the smart-clip feature yet?

On Audacity 3.4.1 on Windows 11, the solo button in each track (this is the feature to mute all tracks but the one where the solo button is clicked) doesn’t work properly. When I click the solo button, it shows that the solo button has been clicked, but it doesn’t mute or unmute any tracks.

I did an update today and now I can no longer hear the audio. I have checked everything, neither headphones nor speakers work. When I play audio via another program it works fine. So it must be a problem with Audacity. Yesterday it still worked and I didn’t change anything apart from the update. What can I do? Can I delete the update again?

I have already uninstalled the entire application and downloaded it again. Unfortunately, I can’t download an older version, so I still have the same problem, I can’t hear anything.

I was not expecting such a chaos with the new version. Quite despondent, honestly I was never so much disappointed with any of the previous versions.

Could anyone please help me with that issue? I really need to work with Audacity. THANKS!

I think it’s time to release Audacity 3.5

How come none of my previous versions of Audacity no longer work, in addition
to 3.4 not working? They won’t record, or play. I hesitate to start moving the controls around, because then I won’t be able to remember where each one should be set. Isn’t Audacity supposed to work “right out of the box”? For years, it used to work just fine without adjusting any controls.

Hello! Brand new to Audacity and when I tried to install the NPI and the plugins it crashes and will not allow me to send the report.

Installed for the 64 bit program. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Hello. This is my first question here so I hope I’m doing it right.
I had no problems with Audacity until I installed version 3.4. Version 3.4.1 doesn’t seem to help.

I was surprised with the new exporter at first but I think I understood where all parameters are. But:

  1. The recording level is suddenly lower. I have looked for solutions and they all have to do with Effects/normalize, Effects/amplify or with using the Envelope. I’d like to know if I can get the right level of recording as I did before, without using this tools.

  2. And this is worse: I’m not able anymore to record synchronized tracks. If I open a backing track and record over it is not synchronized as it used to be.

Can you give me some advice?
Thank you very much,
Alejandro

Addendum:
I re-installed version 3.3.3-x64bits and the synchronization problem is gone (it looks so).
The recording level is still too low.
Thanks again!

Hi, I downloaded 3.4.1 and now I am having trouble with time editing. I have a 4 track song and when I try to adjust the time on the bass track ( using Generate Silence to add or just Delete to cut), it adjusts the time on all 4 tracks even though only the bass track is highlighted. I didn’t have this problem with the last version. How can I fix this?
Thanks

3.4.1 has been a disaster for me. I can no later make timing edits on a single track ( all tracks get adjusted) and now I’m finding my tracks are all panned left or right whereas before they were at Center and I could actually pan. This all started with the 3.4.1 download and I have never had issues with Audacity before.I was down to a final mix on a song and now I’m literally at a stand still. Help!

Just installed the update, and I am having the same problem while adding a mono track to re-record and paste in a new clip. Have you been able to figure out a way around it?

Why does pasting unjoin the audio now? It’s adding a ton of time to my editing. make this optional at least! And 3.3 when you were working on a file and went to save as it automatically went back to the same save folder. Now when I save as, it returns to a different folder and I have to spend time backtracking to save the file in the folder it is originally from. And the export menu was way better before. It’s hard to read now and less intuitive. I keep trying to revert to the 3.3 audacity but those old versions for some reason all my mono tracks will only play left side. What the heck? This update has absolutely destroyed my work flow the past two days.

you have to rejoin the audio every time you paste. nightmare

My partner is having the same issue. Did you find a fix for this? How frustrating.

No, unfortunately not yet and there is already another version of Audacity, but it doesn’t work there either :frowning: I’m trying to find a way to save the already edited audio file so that I can continue working on it with another editing program and all my work wasn’t in vain. I’ve looked at Tenacity and it’s very similar so I’ll probably switch to that.
