Working on digitizing my LPs using Audacity. Some of the M4A files that Audacity creates show up in iTunes with a duration of 789:57:13 and are unreadable. Sometimes recording that same song again and importing it into iTunes fixed the problem, and sometimes it doesn’t. Anybody have any ideas what the problem is and how to fix it?
It’s a bug in iTunes. Which version are you using?
They’ve fixed the problem for Macs in version 12.9.5.5
I’m currently on 12.9.4.104. I’ll try upgrading it and see.
I checked and I have the most recent version of iTunes for Windows on my machine. Any other suggestions?
thanks, Don
You can try renaming the files with “.mp4” file extension instead of “.m4a”.
Other than that, it’s a matter of waiting for Apple to roll out the fix for Windows, or use a different media player.
The fix is already available for Windows - it’s macOS 10.14.4 Mojave that’s the problem where Apple have bundled iTunes in with the OS but not upgraded the OS yet.
Update: I just checked on my Mac and I note that Apple have (silently) upgraded me to Mojave 10.14.5 and with that comes iTunes 12.9.5.5
