Hi, I hope that you are all well…and that someone can help!
i have installed the ambeo orbit and can get great effects manipulating a DJ friends work. The orbit works great when playing, but I can’t record or save the effects that I am applying…It is driving me crazy!!
thanks again for your response…when i click apply it amplifies the sound like it has applies the ambisonic effect, but when played back it doesn’t do any of the actions that i have applied. Grrr!! thanks for your response and suggestions, do you have success in the same format? I cant think what i am doing wrong? i have tried watching youtube vids and reading manuals, but cant seem to find the info?
Apply the effect, then close the effect window.
Play the track and ensure that it sounds how you want it to.
Export as a WAV file and give it a unique name.
If you now play the WAV file, it should sound identical to playing the track in Audacity.
In Audacity on my Windows 8 computer, the Ambeo plugin pauses, (doing nothing), for ~15 seconds before it begins to apply the effect. (I’ve never known a plugin take so long to act ).
Not necessarily: some VST plug-ins are not compatible with Audacity.
Sometimes it’s necessary to use an older version, if it’s available,
The version of Ambeo Orbit I used is v1.0.0 , yours is v1.0.1.
Don’t you need a four channel audio file for this to work?
I’ve never tried it like this, but I’d expect the plugin needs the information from a first order ambisonic file to output binaural stereo or other formats.
The whole idea of binaural is that you are listening to 2-channels on headphones. You can feed-in multiple channels but you are only getting 2-channels out.

I have tried Dolby Headphone with a surround-sound test DVD and the illusion did not work for me… I heard an “effect” of come kind, but I didn’t hear sounds coming from behind. It is just an illusion and Dolby doesn’t actually claim that it works that way, they just say it “enhances” surround sound on headphones, but apparently the surround illusion does work for some people.
If you think about it, sound coming from straight-ahead, straight-behind, or straight-above hits both ears equally so it’s hard to know the direction. Normally, you turn your head (perhaps subconsciously) to “see” where the sound is coming from and that gives you multiple readings to triangulate the location of the sound. But of course, that doesn’t work with headphones because the sound-source moves when you move your head. (There are head-tracking headphones.)
Hello Mate,
I thought that i was the only one encountering this problem. Thanks to this forum. I have got one like me.
I have windows 10 installed on my pc. i too installed the ambeo orbit. while installing the application i checked in the 32 bit and both the 32 and 64 bit in another installation. But, the plugin wouldn’t work for me.
When i try to open the plugin in the audacity, it takes some time to open the VST. A message pops up that audacity isn’t responding. I even hear an unusual sound when i play the audio in Ambio Orbit. I wasn’t able to find any effects applied to the selected audio. I think ambio orbit is not compatible with a simple editor like audacity. I hope that, changes will be made either by audacity or by sennheiser for better user experience. Have you found any solution to this problem? Feel free to leave a reply. Thanks in advance.
I don’t think it’s possible for a 32-bit app to load a 64-bit plug-in. That’s why plug-in makers often release 2 versions, one for 32-bit hosts and one for 64-bit hosts. When a plug-in is advertised as suitable for both 32 and 64 bit, it is usually distributed in an installer that detects whether the OS is 32 or 64 bit, and then installs the appropriate version.
It “may” be possible for a 64-bit host to load a 32-bit plug-in on Windows, but I’m not sure how that works - it’s not possible on current versions of macOS.
