Hi,
I had Audacity on my old XP system and , because of the type of music I play - rockabilly - used the old 78 EQ settings that used to be part of Audacity years ago. I have an XML file that installs the settings into Audacity called ‘EQ Record’ that was sent to me by the Audacity team years ago but I can’t remember how to install it into the program! Can anyone out there give me any advice on this ? BIG thanks in advance if you can
Cheers,
Andy.
This page from the Audacity Wiki should help you: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/78rpm_playback_curves
And this workflow in the Manual may be of interest/use to you: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/recording_78rpm_records.html

Hi ,
Thanks but not quite what I needed - the XML file I have has various presets for Decca, Columbia Microgroove etc, I need to know how to load it into the Audacity program. It used to be part of the program but not any more - it can be done as I did do it before but I just can’t remember how
Thanks in advance for any help,
Andy.
EQRecord.xml (10.2 KB)
Hi,
Just in case anyone else wants them I have found the email Gale Andrews sent me with instructions on how to do it This is it :-
By the way I forgot, if you actually need the exact former presets
you had before, you can still get them
here:
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/EQCurvesDownload#EQ_Curves_for_old_recordings
.
What you want to do is right-click > Save As the link in yellow
“http://wiki.audacityteam.org/w/images/4/4c/EQRecord.xml”
then in
Audacity’s Equalization Effect, press Save/Manage Curves…
and import the
downloaded XML file. See:
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/equalization.html#manage .
Cheers,
Andy.
