4.0 update blogpost?

I realize these things take time, and that development happens at the pace it happens. But the Audacity 3.7 release announcement (October 2024) said:

Audacity 4 will feature a complete remake of the UI and is still quite some ways out. We’ll update you on scope and progress on that over the coming months.

And the 25th Anniversary blog post (May 28, 2025) said:

We will soon post an update on what to expect exactly for Audacity 4.0.

So it kinda feels like we’re overdue for that “expectations-setting” update. (Even if the software release itself is still months or even years away.)

Fair, and thank you for the link, but I’m also just as interested in the plans as I am in the current status. (Perhaps even more interested.)

We wanted to do a blogpost soon, but then realized a video would be much nicer. So you’ll get a video instead It’ll come out with the first alpha (probably), which is probably closer to weeks away than months away
