Audacity does not recognize usb device

I attached a USB tape player to windows 10 and it recognized the device. But when I go to audacity it does not. How can I correct this. Thanks.

Did you attach the USB device after Audacity was already running ?

If so, the you need to use Transport > Rescan Audio Devices.

I did that but it still did not find it. What next?

You may need to enable it in Windows:

  1. click on the speaker icon near the bottom right of your screen
  2. select sounds
  3. select the Recording tab

from there you can enable it
