Won't find/recognise FFMPEG

I’m using Windows 10 and Audacity 2.4.2. I’ve followed all the steps for FFMPEG, I’ve used the Zip download as well as the other download, but it just won’t locate the library.

I’m not a tech wizard but I just don’t understand why it won’t locate the library. I’ve tried it umpteen times.

The issue started when I tried to import audio from an android recorder as I had done without problems on numerous occasions, but it wouldn’t recognise the audio this time. I ended up updating to 2.4.2 but still no luck.

It’s rather frustrating to say the least.

Try re-running the Audacity “EXE” installer (https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/) and during the installation, select the option to “Reset Preferences”.
If you installed FFMpeg by running the “ffmpeg-win-2.2.2.exe” file, then Audacity should automatically find FFmpeg.
