Hi,
Is Audacity 2.0 compatible with Windows 7 SP1 64 bit and will it work properly on 64 bit?
And is the Lame MP3 plugin 3.99.3 compatible with Windows 7 SP1 64 bit and will it work properly on 64 bit?
Thanks!
Yes but see here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Windows_7_OS
And you may want to see the release notes: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Notes_2.0.0
Hi steve,
Thanks for your answer, and I have another question: Can I use the same installer of Audacity and Lame MP3 plugin for win7 64 bit and 32 bit (I couldn’t find installer specific for 32 and 64 bit systems)?
Yes, download from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
Audacity is a 32-bit application. Under Windows 7 it installs into “C:Program Files (x86)”, not into “C:Program Files” (which is the folder for the 64-bit applications).
Hi steve, PGA and thanks for the help.
Hi, I have one more question: Does Lame MP3 encoder plugin (version 3.99.3) create an entry/record in the Windows’s add/remove control panel item? So if I need it can I remove this like Audacity (I mean I can remove Audacity from the add/remove control panel item)? I ask this because if a new version available I prefer a clean install (uninstall then install the latest version.)
Thanks!
If you install “Lame v3.99.3 for Windows.exe” according to the instructions here there will be an uninstall option in the add/remove control panel item: http://manual.audacityteam.org/help/manual/man/faq_installation_and_plug_ins.html#lame
Hi steve,
Thanks again!
I have a newer laptop. It is a Toshiba 64 bit device. Is there a version of Audacity that will run on it?
The current version of Audacity runs fine on latest generation 64-bit PCs. Assuming that you are using a current release version of Windows you can find the system requirements here: Audacity ® | Free, open source, cross-platform audio software for multi-track recording and editing.
