Hi! I’m new to the audacity forums. Currently running audacity 2.3.2 on windows 10 here.
So my problem is that every time I go to the effects menu, and go to enable some plugins, I will scroll down to the desired plug ins, enable each one, then click ok. But then, when I go back into the effects menu, they aren’t there. Then when I go back to the add plugins menu, the effects I enabled are there saying they’re disabled.
Also I’m trying to enable tons of plugins, and I don’t just want to know how to enable one or two, I want to use all of them. I should be able to use all of them. Please help me.
The current version of Audacity is 2.4.1: https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/
There are a number of reasons why a plug-in may fail to enable. Are you able to successfully enable any plug-ins?
Nope, except for the plugins that are already enabled. Should I update?
It’s not Select > OK. It’s Select > Enable > OK. There’s an extra step in the middle. That burns me every time and I know it’s there.
I’m trying to enable tons of plugins
Select the top one and Shift-Select the bottom one. They should all light up. > Enable > OK.
I want to use all of them.
Maybe not. Audacity has to keep track of all the plugins you use and it takes time and effort to do that. You might find Audacity becoming sluggish or unresponsive. Even worse you may send Audacity into the bin if you have one naughty plugin … somewhere in that pile.
I can’t help asking why you need that. That’s not audio production is it? Are you reviewing plugins for your podcast?
Koz
I don’t need ALL plugins lol
It is for audio production, I do tons of random shit on audacity, and I always seem to want to enable an effect and then it doesn’t enable. thanks for the help tho, I’ll let you know if it works out
ok so yeah It didn’t end up working out. The main three I’m trying to enable are vocal reduction and isolation, vocal remover, and vocoder. And just so you know, I was always selecting each effect and then clicking enable then clicking ok. lol
“vocal reduction and isolation” and “vocoder” should be installed and enabled by default.
“vocal remover” is no longer included in Audacity.
Unfortunately, Audacity does not yet provide a way to refresh the list of plug-ins that appear in the Plug-in Manager. If an effect was installed and then later removed, it will still appear in the list, even though it is no longer available and impossible to enable.
The only way at present to reset the list of plug-ins, is to close Audacity and manually delete the files: “pluginregistry.cfg” and “pluginsettings.cfg”. These files can be found in:
C:\Users**\AppData\Roaming\audacity**
well fuck it then I won’t use em
