Why doesn't Bass And Treble automatically amplify anymore?

Hello all,
So, I still run Audacity 2.0.6 for the sole purpose that the Bass and Treble command automatically amplifies (when level is setto 0 DB) and I find that completely disturbing that later versions o of this plugin don’t even do that. Instead you always have to manually Normalize after every time you run the Bass and Treble plugin.
Can someone tell me why that is and what can be done to fix this problem? It’s been annoying me ever since 2.0.6 became outdated and I really want that option back.

There’s a tick-box at the bottom of the “Bass and Treble” GUI window.
it says “link volume controls to tone controls” : when ticked the volume is kept constant(ish) when the bass/treble controls are adjusted.
(The default for that effect setting is the box is not ticked).

Yeah, but that doesn’t always work. I don’t like having to keep running the “Normalize” command every time, because in earlier versions I didn’t have to run that command. This is mostly to make Macros shorter and take less time. Now there’s going to have to be one extra step for this? This bothers me.
