A quick word on that. Audacity can work with your machine’s internal drive or the Audio.com network drive service. Full Stop. There are no external drives, network drives, internet drives, or cloud drives.

Audacity has no way to certify or stabilize those last ones for critical or easily damaged production. My silly joke is you getting all set up for a multi-channel, rhythm-matched, musical overdubbing session with a cloud drive, and then half-way through the song, the transmission service senses some damage and carefully switches your song to a drive an extra time zone away. No, that’s not going to match rhythm and you will need to set up the session all over again.

What could possibly happen to your home network? Computer network protocols include error-correction and resend. “You say the last data packet didn’t make it from the computer to the drive in the garage?” “I better send it again to insure transmission success.” (and take twice the amount of time thus throwing the rhythm off.)

Networks are perfectly cool with email and YouTubes, but maybe not time critical jobs. Ever been on a Zoom session during connection __________troubles?

Audacity stores various things on Amazon AWS, as would audio.com if you were signed in and the cloud sync features were enabled. Right now, during the alpha release, what you’re seeing is likely the training material playlist, as featured in the upcoming “Learn” page.
