Does anyone know where the songs are stored after I record them? I can’t find them anywhere. I’m recording streaming audio from the internet on ver2.1.0 and everything seems to be working, but I have no idea where the data is going. If I could just find them, I could handle everything from there okay.
Please don’t post your own question into a completely unrelated topic, because that gets confusing for everyone. I started a new topic for you.
You don’t say what version of Windows you have. If you have not changed the Audacity temporary directory in Audacity’s Directories Preferences, then these are the default locations your recording is saved to:
- Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings<your user name>\Local Settings\Temp\audacity-temp
- Windows Vista or later: C:\Users<your user name>\AppData\Local\Temp\audacity_temp
Unless your recordings are disappearing after you stop recording, there is no need to change the location of the Audacity temporary directory.
It is important that you do not interfere with the small AU files in Audacity’s temp folder.
To save a file to use in Windows Media Player or other apps on your computer, use one of the File > Export commands. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/exporting_audio.html.
To save your work as you go along so you can reopen it later in Audacity if necessary, File > Save Project… .
