When I split a clip and export the different section, a very small amount of audio is from the beginning and end of each clip

Hello, not sure I am wording this the best, but I have a .wav file of someone speaking that I’m trying to split into 4 parts.

If I make 3 splits and export the 4 selections to 4 files, then play them all back, there is like some milliseconds of audio missing before and after each split.

It’s enough that I have to do my split in 2 parts with a tiny sliver that I add to both the selection before and after to overcome this.

Just wondering what might cause this or if there is a way around it?

update: this is actually the new Media player in Windows 11 that was the culprit. Playing the files elsewhere behave as you’d expect.
