When I select FFmpeg location on my Mac, Audacity keeps saying it's not found

I installed FFmpeg on my MacBook (Apple Silicon) and then, in the Libraries section of Preferences, browsed to the location of libavformat.dylib which is /lib/libavformat.dylib and selected OK. Audacity just keeps saying “FFmpeg library not found”.

I tested the library from the Mac terminal and it works fine. How do I get it working in Audacity? Thanks

I’m a Windows, guy but did you follow the instructions here?

Audacity requires a special version of FFmpeg (at least on Windows).

Yes, followed these instructions to the letter but no luck

Any luck? I have the same problem since upgrading to Mac OS 15 (Tahoe). ChatGPT ultimately help me find the solution.

From the audacity support page:

I downloaded and installed the macOS package: https://lame.buanzo.org/FFmpeg_5.0.0_for_Audacity_on_macOS.pkg

After I installed it, I restarted Audacity and it automatically detected the ffmpeg libs. (I have audacity v3.7.5).
