Hi everyone! I run a site called Love Horoscope Daily, where I publish daily romantic horoscopes and astrology content. I’m currently editing short audio clips for zodiac signs and love messages. What’s the best way to use Audacity to add soft background music under a voice recording without the music overpowering the narration? Any tips for balancing levels or using compression properly would be really appreciated!
File → Import the music (don’t “open”) and the music will import as an additional track.
Select-highlight the music and use the Amplify with a negative value to lower the volume.
They will be mixed (summed) when you play or export so if the voice has peaks of 0dB (100%) you might get some clipping (distortion). So you might want to also lower the voice by a couple of dB.
The music should be 20dB quieter than the voice …
